Grief is something every person faces at some point in life. It is one of the hardest journeys anyone can go through, and it often feels lonely. In her book Letters to Heaven, author Elizabeth Grace Harris shares her heart with people who are mourning loved ones and searching for peace. Through gentle words and honest dialogue, she offers comfort, reminding readers that Love never truly disappears.
The book began in the most personal way. During a time of profound loneliness, she lost her beloved grandfather, taking her further into an emptiness that she could not put into spoken words. One day, she decided to write her grandfather in Heaven a letter. That first letter was so cathartic, and so the writing became a doorway to healing. Soon, she found herself writing not only to her grandfather, but also to God, as well as another family member who had passed away. She even wrote to a beloved pet, who had been an anchor of love and companionship during very, very lonely days. Each letter gave her strength, helping her to start releasing her pain, while at the same time keeping the love in her heart alive, rather than it being crushed. What started as a private practice grew into something much bigger, a book that could offer peace to others who were feeling alone, grieving and searching for more.
Letters to Heaven is a companion that sits beside you during your most difficult moments. Written in simple, heartfelt language, the book offers:
- Letters and reflections that bring comfort to broken hearts.
- Touching moments of loss and resilience that help readers feel less alone.
- Gentle reminders that Love never ends. It may change form, but it always continues.
- A spiritual perspective that points to God’s Love and His constant presence.
- Hope that healing, while slow, is possible after even deep pain.
It is a book you can return to again and again. Each page holds a reminder that you are not walking through grief by yourself. It also suggests that Love is always there for the receiving, if one is willing to look ‘be-yind’, rather than beyond and outside of themselves.
Elizabeth’s style of writing is warm and very personal. She does not speak as a counsellor or as someone with all the answers. She writes as someone who has been there, someone who has felt the weight of loss and struggled to move forward. This makes her words feel more like a friend’s encouragement than a teacher’s advice.
She shares, “Writing these letters helped me when I could not find the right words to pray. They became my way of nurturing and reinforcing the Forever Love I felt in my heart, keeping it alive. The more I wrote, the more I felt God’s Loving Presence in so many ways. It was my way of connecting to Something that was greater than myself and my circumstances. My hope is that anyone who reads them will feel less alone and more understood in their own grief and pain.”
While Letters to Heaven speaks to people in grief, its message reaches further. It tell us that chasing love in people, possessions, or culture often leaves us empty. True Love is found in God’s presence, a Love that does not fade, and is eternal and personal.
In today’s world, many are carrying loss. Some are mourning loved ones, while others grieve broken relationships, lost opportunities, or even safety and certainty. Letters to Heaven is a reminder that even in loss, we are never truly alone.
The book walks beside the reader, assuring you that healing is possible. Its simple structure makes it easy to pick up at any point. A single letter or reflection can bring peace in just a few minutes, whenever comfort is most needed.
