Installing photovoltaic panels: our assembly tips

Among renewable energy sources, solar energy enjoys a geographical advantage in Australia, albeit with some differences between north and south. Photovoltaic growth and development are currently accelerating, also creating many new jobs.

In addition to being an ethical issue, which gives a nod to clean and renewable energy, solar Panel in Australia installing photovoltaic systems is also economically convenient: according to the  Canto Energies , for twenty years, each kWh produced is paid by your electricity supplier, significantly reducing your bill: the actual cost to be paid will be the  difference between the energy produced by your system and that actually consumed , if this difference is equal to or in favor of that produced, the bill can be reduced to zero.

To be able to really save, it is of fundamental importance to evaluate:

The intended use, domestic or industrial. Sizing, i.e. strengthening or reducing the power of the system based on the actual space and energy requirements.

The choice of the destination location, which should preferably be free from shaded areas; the optimal orientation, better if towards the South with an inclination of 30°, or towards the South-West or South-East with an inclination between 20° and 50° where there is not much space available; You can then decide which type of installation is best suited to your needs, as there are several different types.

For optimal, fast and durable installation we recommend Fischer’s Solar-Fix line. This line offers different anchoring systems based on the location and type of material on which the photovoltaic panels will be fixed. Here’s what they are and a short guide on how they should be mounted:

Fixing photovoltaic panels on pitched roofs

It’s the ideal solution for single-family homes or buildings with a typical pitched roof.  In this case, we recommend using pitched roofing systems with hooks, which follow the shape of the roof itself and integrate seamlessly with the structure. As shown in the photo.

Here is the installation to follow:

Fix the support hooks to the structure under the tiles, adjusting them, if necessary, according to the geometry of the tile; to position the support frame profiles, you can choose between robust universal solar-fish profiles in aluminum alloy in cases of large center distances, or lightweight solar-light aluminum profiles which are economical and quick to install, ideal if the center distances are small; Connect the profiles laterally using  the brackets  and, where necessary, join them with a pair of CPN A connections. The boss on the joint indicates that the correct insertion has been achieved; connect the second profile, and so on until the desired coverage is achieved; position the end and central clamps with a pitch equal to the width of the panels; place the solar companies in Australia

On the profiles and secure them with the end clamps. Place the subsequent photovoltaic modules side by side, fixing them progressively using the central clamps.

Fixing photovoltaic panels on flat roofs

In this case the panels must be installed on raised supports to give the modules the correct inclination. Roofing systems with triangular frames are among the fastest solutions.  Fischer offers various sizes based on the required slope.

Installation involves the following steps:

Identify the position where to place the support triangles; Anchor the triangles to the ground by tightening the screws with a torque of 10 Nm; Mount the profiles on the supports using TE screws and MU nuts, in this case, in addition to the reduce the support points; Cut and fit the rear bracing profiles to the width of the panels, fixing them to the vertical strut of the triangle with self-drilling screws; if necessary, connect multiple profiles using a pair of CPN A connections. When you reach the boss in the joint, it means it has been inserted correctly; connect one profile next to another until the desired coverage is achieved; determine the position of the end and central clamps   with equivalent to the width of the panel; position the first panel and secure it with the final clamps; assemble the subsequent panels, locking them with the central clamps;

For low-load applications, we recommend the SOLAR-WIND system. Thanks to the panels’ shallower inclination, they don’t require drilling, but rather concrete ballast.  The solar Panel in Australia are positioned on special aluminum brackets.

Here are the installation instructions:

place the SW-S or SW-EW structures on the roof, it is recommended to start from one corner of the system; place the   specific end and central clamps on the brackets; place the first panel and tighten the final clamps, continuing with the next ones, adjusting the position of the brackets where necessary; place the SW PAD protection pads in correspondence with the SW BALLAST ballasts to protect the waterproofing sheath; Place the ballast on the bearings.  You can stack more than one according to the required load.

Fixing photovoltaic panels on corrugated and corrugated sheet metal roofs

For corrugated sheet roofing, the assembly system is similar to the pitched system, with the difference that the support brackets do not require hooks and are fixed directly to the sheet.

The steps are as follows:

Identify the points on which to position the fixings; to apply STSI screws, a  6.8 mm pre-hole is required in steel  with a sheet metal thickness of 2 to 4 mm, while for STSRS screws  on wooden supports, pre-drilling may not be necessary; screw the screws into the support up to the end of the thread and apply the SSP plates or MW brackets  always facing the highest part of the sloping roof ;install the solar Panel Sydney profiles on the brackets using the SKS screws and MU F Knutsford rows longer than 4 m, multiple profiles can be attached using a pair of CPN AL connections, insert the element into the slot and insert it until it reaches the boss in the joint.  To avoid problems such as thermal expansion, a length of less than 15 m is recommended; Position the final and central clamps that will be used to fix the photovoltaic panels side by side one by one; As regards corrugated sheet metal roofing, brackets will not be necessary; fixing is done by directly drilling holes in the sheet metal and the profiles on which the panels will be mounted.

The assembly:

Place a thickness of GC INT butyl tape on the sheet metal in correspondence with the profiles; Assemble the profiles with RS AL 5.2X20 rivets by drilling holes in the profile and sheet metal and tightening them with a manual or electric riveter; in this case too, we have two possible choices: solar-light or solar-fish profiles.

Position the clamps in correspondence with the pieces; assemble the first Solar Panel in Australia  , fixing it with the final clamps ;place the modules side by side until the row is complete,  securing them together with the central clamps; position the clamps in correspondence with the pieces; assemble the first panel  , fixing it with the final clamps ;place the modules side by side until the row is complete,  securing them together with the central clamps; There are also  customized solutions  consisting of  special structures  assembled specifically according to the roofing needs.

Fixing photovoltaic panels on the facade

It’s a high-performance solution that integrates photovoltaic systems into large-scale facades.  It’s suitable for a variety of applications, including public and industrial buildings, or large, multi-story residential buildings.

Assembly is done by following these steps:

Identifying the structural points on which to anchor the wall brackets, choosing the most suitable size after checking the out-of-plumpness; Fix the brackets in front of the insulation panel with  the Thermal anchor  without thermal bridge; insert the vertical profiles inside the brackets, fixing them with the 4.8 x 10A2 Fischer rivet,  leaving a space between the end of one profile and the beginning of the next; mount the end and central clamps  with a pitch equal to the width of the panels; place the BR FV brackets covered with CG INT butyl tape at the base of each solar companies in Australia; place the first panel and secure it with the clamps; place the modules side by side until the row is complete,  securing them using the central and final clamps;

Fixing photovoltaic panels to the ground

In the case of high energy requirements or if you want to produce and sell the energy produced by solar panels, we recommend building a large ground-based system that allows for large-scale accumulation of solar potential. The surface area required for this type of industrial photovoltaic system must be at least 4000 m2, the modules are usually mounted on metal structures resistant to any atmospheric disturbance. Fischer’s universal solution for photovoltaic fields is an excellent installation choice. These are the assembly guidelines: Define the spacing between the structures based on the snow and wind loads in the system installation area; Drive the single SPS-SP pile by driving it to the depth determined through the geotechnical analysis of the soil.

Fix the inclined profile to the upper end of the pole using M 16 bolts.

Secure the bracket to the intrados with the M 10 bolts; Connect the single pole brace to the bracket with M 16 bolts; mount the SPS-HP profile to the load-bearing structures; if necessary, connect the profiles together with an SPS JOINT connection extension; after having finished positioning the profiles, fix the connecting screws to the main triangular structures; position the pre-assembled and central clamps  with a pitch equal to the width of the panels; assemble the first panel by tightening the clamps; Place the panels side by side until the end of the row,  fixing them together with the central clamps.
